Development Generation Africa International (DGAi)

Africa is a continent of the young, with more than 60% of the total population below the age of 30. Any serious policy for social, political and economic development in Africa must recognize the very importance of young people, especially in promoting social progress, reducing political tension and maximizing economic performance.

Development Generation Africa International is a registered youth-led nongovernmental organization with focus on children, youth and community development and engagement; through skill-based trainings, capacity building and education; geared towards the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals.

A member of the Partnership to Cut Hunger and Poverty in Africa (PCHPA), Nigeria Network of Nongovernmental Organizations (NNNGO), Child Rights Information Network and the Global Youth Action Network (GYAN), Development Generation Africa International connects children and youth together with stakeholders to discuss issues and take action on Health, Education, ICT, Environment and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

At the DGAi, we believe that the depth, pace and scope of any development in Africa,  particularly, Nigeria, as well as other sub-saharan countries,depends on how well its youth resources are nurtured, deployed and harnessed.

Development Generation Africa International is providing the mechanism for articulating emerging concerns of children and youth in Africa and with them, developing consensus regarding the solutions to these issues, under the MDG context. Part of our objective is to develop approaches for maximizing the contributions of children and youth to national, regional and international development agenda with focus on three primary pillars:

1.         Children and youth in economic development

2.         Children and youth in social transformation

3.         Children and youth in governance and political development.

DGAi was founded to be a veritable children and youth platform for debating, discussing and initiating concrete strategies for Africa's future development.
